Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge

Yesterday we visited Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge. As we entered we were welcomed by thousands of migrating snow geese
Those bird are very loud!

After that we stopped by the visitor center. This area of New Mexico is known for its chili peppers and chili chains are hung everywhere.
We took a loop road that goes around a wetland area to watch amazing birds. Some of the birds come for the winter and others stay all year around.

bald eagle
pheasant
We were also there(-:
They grow corn fields especially for the birds to feed. Look for geese between the plants
On the way we passed by Hatch - THE chili capital

Tomorrow we're crossing to Arizona!

I love the "Charlie's Angels" shadow photo....with the extra angel. :-) Hope you're staying warm! Jim had a good birthday- we made him hunt all over the house for his little presents. His surprise trip in this coming Friday, I don't THINK he knows where we're going.....yet. We'll see. :-)

Wow, the birds are amazing and those cornfields.....
We are back home in Shanghai, also here cold...ice in the morning on our pond, blue skies and a lot of sun. It feels really good, although the Netherlands were very beautiful with the snow and ice.....still very cold too. Cathy I guess you think of us as cotton balls / softies (Dutch expression: watjes), -10 is not cold for you guys, but for us.....Shanghai is only minus 2 during the day, minus 5 during the night....enough to have electric blankets:-)
